A travel photographer has to trust his instincts. Clients regularly discover value in what I shoot outside of the scope of your average "creative brief" — the shots driven by attention to the environment rather than the shot list — these are exactly the frames they want and just don't know it yet. The eye is the same. The discipline is the same. The only difference is context.
Travel photography, for me, is seeing the world and letting it inform the work. That’s research, developing local contacts, listening to stories that are important to a place, and finding those stories in a frame. My proudest moments are when a local sees my work and says some version of, "I've seen a thousand pictures of this place and you captured what it MEANS." This pleases me.
The selection moves through landscape, street, and documentary. Each moment is a fragment of a larger story — about place, about people. Times that carry weight. That carry significance. Moments that don’t repeat.
